The introduction of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray heralded major changes in the march onward in the Chevrolet Stingray. The Sting Ray was available as both a "Roadster "version with a removable hardtop and a "Coupe" sometimes referred to as a fastback.
Onwards from 1963 to 1967 the Sting Ray got even better with a greater number of options for both luxury and power performance. This was the heyday of the days of sports car customizers. And the Corvette Sting Ray was the perfect 100 % raw material for the sports car customizers. Headlights were molded and in and the bumpers were removed. So many Corvettes received an extra pair of taillights that people that they were actually a General Motors Chevrolet Corvette factory option. Later when the low profile wide tires came along, so did large fender flares. The speed equipment industry had boomed, so the majority of Corvette engine parts were being replaced by the latest: Hot Setup". Rochester fuel injectors were being removed because of service problems, and everyone heard that the single four barrel in a high riser manifold was better. In 1965 the first Chevy big-block was introduced in the Corvette, and the performance was more than awesome.
Another new body style - both larger and heavier was introduced in 1968. Many thought that this was the beginning of the decline of the Corvette, But in the vital performance department, the 427 cubic inches Rat Motor with its three two-barrel carbs and the 435 horse power ratings more than powered the Corvette legend of lore. No letting down of the powerful image of the 'Vette.
Things got even better right on up to the 1969 L-88with aluminum cylinder heads the 1970 LS-6 rated at a mighty 465 horse power rating. The word Corvette invokes the image of high performance sports car performance. An older age group replaced the street racer cult as the primary consumers and purchasers of the Vette. More and more of the Corvettes were equipped with such luxury and comfort options as air conditioning, power steering and telescoping steering columns. It was not long before the Corvette with emission devices and soon the real 'Vette type of performance was history.
What was more than interesting was the response original hot rodder modification group. The amazing part of all of this is how the circle came round. Karma sneaks in.
The same dedicated group of sport car enthusiasts and hot rodders, who modified the older, pre mainstream luxury comfort model Corvettes, is now the very ones who restore this same converted Corvette back to exact stock specifications.
How could these people justify the work and effort of taking these cars back in time to factory specs when a great amount of time, effort and cost had been invested in these very cars? A used Corvette at the time was essentially a very attractive sports car buy.
Why were restore cars in vogue and even preferred over the earlier modified ones. Partially it was a case of limited supply and very high prices being offered by the stock type Corvettes and classic car auctions and the prices being asked in the special car groups and publications. All in all it can be said it can be a combination of the custom cars getting old and needing refurbishing and the 55 mile speed limit in the time. Perhaps as well it was a question of maturity on the kids who were the Corvette hot rodders at the time. See the influence of time, life and having a family with its change of priorities can have on the wildest kids.

Corvette Z06 - Continues to Hike the Bar

Author: Richard Shryack
Sure, gas prices are insane and Chevy bumped versus the price not quite five grand, but the Corvette Z06 is reposeful spectacularly cool. Corvette Z06 will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3. With a top speed of 198 mph on the test track, Corvette Z06 is the highest popular concert production car in Chevrolet and GM retelling. I personally like the Corvette Z06 the rout. The 2008 Corvette turn several gig handling options, including all-around Magnetic Selective Ride Control or the uninhabited Z51 Adventure Lap (both pervious with the other and not jobless on Z06). A dry-sump oil system, exclusive to Z06, prevents oil starvation on high-g corners or during heavy braking.
With Z06, Chevrolet Corvette once again raises the bar for production sports car swan song. During testing at two impulsive, 2-mile road race facilities, Grattan in Michigan and Putnam Park in Indiana, (both regularly dissipated by Team Corvette for testing) John Heinricy, boocoo-times-winning and World-Record-holding Corvette racer, and Mike Neal, GM?s top Corvette ride-and-handling engineer, were three-and-a-half seconds a lap quicker in Z06es than in 2000 Hardtops. I think multiple drivers will be variety like, four seconds a lap faster in the Z06. The Corvette Z06 is radiant to surely do exactly that.

Not out of harness on Z06 or models equipped with the securable Z51 Action Enwrap.
The Corvette Z06 is that example, with a 7. Like to drive Corvettes god-awful fast on a regular basis. The 2001 Corvette Z06 is the hottest demonstration news since the coming of the ZR1 more than a decade ago. The Corvette Z06 will throw you back in your seat with 1.

Sourcing Parts At Reasonable Prices For Your Classic Corvette
Author: Terry Z. Voster
With any classic vehicle finding a source of auto repair parts can be a major concern. So it is with classic Chevrolet Corvette as well as Chevrolet Stingray autos.
Corvettes have always had distinctive wheel covers and are a refreshing change from slotted mag wheels. The wood steering wheels add a rich touch if you are lucky to ever find one.
Interest has been spread into the 1968 and later models, especially car equipped with the lift out roof panels. In these cars, the excellent General Motors (G.M.) Turbo Hydra-matic transmission was the desired feature. Indeed one of the most valuable vehicle of this group has been the 1970 LT-1 350. Chevrolet itself had offered some good gymkhana suspension parts for this group of cars that are relatively inexpensive and greatly improve handling qualities.
Where can you find used parts for your classic Corvette? First of course are local swap meet and car clubs in your area. If you can shop close to home better be it.
You actually hold and fondle the part, inspecting it yourself. Why have to arrange and pay shipping charges. As well you may make valuable contacts for your Corvette restoration projects. Often one local contact will lead to another good source for parts as well as classic car restoration expertise.
Next on the list are magazines - such as - Corvette Enthusiast, Vette and Corvette Fever. It might be said that Corvette websites on the internet might be next on your list. However the actual magazines may provide a source for you first. Why not whittle down your Corvette resource list first rather than searching through the websites that may or may not have stock and be of the stature they claim. Websites can be made and put up easily. Magazines articles usually have current sourced lists; will place the vendors in some ranking. If there are ads - those ads have to paid for - which is an indication of the solvency and current resources of the firms involved. As well you may get additional good tips form the articles in the magazine. Classic car magazines such as Hemmings are also very useful.
Next for resources are actual websites devoted to this passion. The sites can be Corvette specific - such as vetteweb, the general motors website itself, The Corvette Club of America etc. Google the term "Corvette Links", "Chevrolet Corvette Links" or "Stingray Links". One link will always lead to more and additional links. Corvette enthusiasts are like that - always trying to be helpful and to share.
A terrific resource always is eBay. EBay is the premier online auction site. It can easily be found on the web at its home of ebay.com as well as various worldwide specific sites - whether they be ebay.ca in Canada or ebay.uk in the United Kingdom. EBay has both its original sales areas as well as the more specific and distinct eBay motors. The beauty of eBay is that somewhere in the world someone may have exactly the part, component or technical manuals that you are looking for.
In essence it may be "just lying around" and be of found money to them and yet be exactly what you require. It may be that that item is not available in your local area or the locals may want a killing for it. Either way eBay can be a very useful resource. Some of the items on eBay are on an auction basis; some are on a "buy now" price. Some are both. The beauty of eBay is that it has advanced features which may make your search for that exact hard to find Corvette car part easier. You can conduct product searches on eBay easily and specifically. If you are an eBay member (no cost to register), then you can have the eBay system email you the moment someone lists that part. Then you can either bid on the item, or if it is a buy now you can choose to purchase it. In addition eBay has a buyer request area where you can put out feelers and a request if anyone has that part or knows of contacts or leads that have that component available. Remember though with eBay that shipping costs are major component of the final and real cost of any good purchased. All that matters, if evaluating cost, is what the product costs when it arrives at the door of your shop.
Lastly never forget your local or area Chevrolet dealer themselves. There is both an amazing and remarkable amount of early Corvette parts still in the parts inventory of some Chevrolet dealers as well as some General Motors Chevrolet dealers who specialize in classic Corvette and Corvette Stingray car, mechanical as well as body parts.

The 2007 Corvette Continues to Go Straight Once Again
Author: Richard Shryack
The 2007 Corvette is a 2-door, 2-astronaut sports car, or convertible sports car, securable in 7 trims, ranging from the Coupe LT1 to the Z06 LZ2. Even though the 2007 Corvette is loaded already there are Premium upgrades for the LZ1 which are a navigation aid, and a CD changer. The 2007 Corvette prices field of view from $45,000 for the coupe, $52,900 for the convertible, to $69,000 for the Z06.
2007 Corvette:
By four-flushing, the sixth-generation Corvette is less overtly aggressive, perhaps more ungullible, than its predecessors. The long-established features on the Chevrolet Corvette are bottomless and include: driver/sailor airbags, caliber accessories, traction control, stability control, alloy wheels (with optional chrome wheels), keyless entry, remote controls, remote releases, vehicle/radio anti-theft, anti-lockout, intermittent wipers, heated/be-all and end-all adjustable mirrors, tinted glass, rear defroster, dual automatic climate controls, cruise, outside temperature gauge, tilt steering, driver demand adjustable seat (tourist yet on the Convertible L2), leather interior, automatic and high intensity discharge headlamps, fog lights, and daytime running lights. The four jeweled taillights make the Corvette look like an F-18 taking off in full afterburner mode.
Chevrolet Corvette:
The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette provides slick practice, great handling, and the prestige of one of America's iconic cars. But beyond color options, the 2007 Chevrolet Corvettes look most the same as the 2006s, and that's not bad at all. The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette is the furthermost vehicle for the fast and furious drivers.
Corvette Coupe:
The Chevrolet Corvette is at loose ends as a coupe or convertible Again for 2007. Prices start at $44,250 for the coupe and $52,590 for the convertible, making the Corvette one of the overbalance buffoonery bargains in the automotive industry today. The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette has seven trims that confines from the Coupe LT1 to the Z06 LZ2. The 2007 Corvette Coupe is the only trim that has a removable roof panel; all the other trims have fixed roofs
Chevrolet Corvette Z06:
The Z06 altogether looks scarcely like from the standard Corvette. The Z06 is distinguished from other Corvettes by lots of subtle color tweaks, starting with the roof. Apart from being three inches wider, the Z06 sports a firsthand front fascia, grille, fenders, and quarter panels. In back, the Z06 spoiler is slightly more prominent, and its exhaust outlets are wider, too (four inches in diameter at the tips). Mellowed alongside the Corvette C6R race car, the 2007 Corvette Z06 uses hoary lightweight materials typically found only in the most exotic supercars. To improve the weight distribution, the battery in the Z06 is mounted in the rear, and the fenders and the floor panels are made of carbon fiber. When you equal the 2007 Corvette Z06 liturgy stats to other supercars, you see overflowing examples where you?re getting punter res gestae with Corvette for one-third the sticker price of the competition. Chevrolet has announced that the fastest Corvette ever?the 505-horsepower Corvette Z06?will achieve 0-60 mph in 3.
The 2007 Corvette is largely unchanged from last year. Externally, the only detectable difference from the 2007 Corvette is a set of optional twin-spoke wheels that barnstormer those from the Z06. The 2007 Corvette is the supreme sports car, dollar for dollar, in the world. Easier to live with every day than a Dodge Viper and more lusty than a Porsche 911 Carrere, the Corvette is a competitive world-class sports car for relativelyfew dollars

Towards Legendary Status: the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Since its debut in 2005, the C6 Corvette has been a prominent attraction in the streets and racetracks with its superchargers, turbochargers, and stroker packages-tales from the Gen IV LS2.
David Gianechini of Missouri City, Texas, who together with his wife owned a silver ’05 with a six-speed and a scant 7,000 miles (from eBay), said, “The C6 is a daily driver to my Houston-based accounts-receivable management firm. As such, it has to be dependable. Determining how to modify the car to be fast, yet reliable, while on a budget became a challenge.”
David Coates, Motorsport Technologies operating officer, together with Gianechini, worked towards modifying the C6 Corvette into a better machine. Coates said, “As soon as the LS2 hit the market, we began research into creating engine packages that would handle extreme horsepower.”
“We can offer the customer a full range of choices, including stroker packages that can take the LS2 out to 455 ci as well as stock-block combinations that will handle 800 crankshaft horsepower. By pushing the envelope, two things became crystal clear: The LS2 block is very stout, but in order to handle the rigors of a power adder, tuning and heat management are critical,” he continued.
Motorsport Tech collaborated with ProCharger, its in-house cylinder-head and camshaft-design teams, to produce a well suited powertrain package that will give way for the C6 Corvette to gain 800 hp. According to a source, “the combo’s big hitter is a ProCharger H.O. Intercooled supercharger kit, which was outfitted at the factory with an upsized D-1SC head unit to facilitate boost levels of up to 12 psi.”
As they set goal for the engine to obtain sufficient circulating air, the LS2 powertrain was brought to Motorsport Tech to undergo treatment for their Stage II-E head-porting regimen. Oversized Ferrea stainless valves help flow in excess of 300 cfm on the intake, courtesy of fully hand-ported runners, bowl work, and a performance valve job with proprietary valve angles. Such valves were comprised with custom-ground “G1” cam measuring 228/232 degrees of duration and 0.588-/0.575-inch lift on a 113-degree love-separation angle. Stock-bore Cometic multi-layer gaskets together with arp head bolts and studs maintain a 10.9:1 compression.
Motortron 50-pound injectors and Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump operates in conjunction with a stock C6 fuel pump. Intake-air temperature management has been the primary role of an Alky Control electronic methanol kit.
Cohen said, “In order to provide a tune that would extract the maximum safe power from the engine, we had to ensure that as parasitic heat from the blower built up, we maintained a delicate balance of timing and fuel. On these types of combinations, there is little to gain and everything to lose if the PCM starts pulling timing or leans out. The combination of the excellent ProCharger intercooler [and] supplemental assistance from methanol injection keeps the intake-air temperatures from ever exceeding 120 degrees, even when hot-lapped.”
Upon attaining performance satisfaction from C6 Corvette, Gianechini said, “[My wife and I] love driving the car around. By getting the C6 with the standard suspension, the car is always comfortable to drive, whether dodging potholes in the city or taking a trip out of town. Combine the power of the blown LS2, the luxurious ride, and a high-powered audio system, and you have a powerful dual-purpose car. Although the amenities are nice, the addictive nature of the ravenous motor's sound really gets me going. The boost from the ProCharger is almost instantaneous, and once the cam gets into the heart of the wide torque curve, the car is a handful. Even with the extremely high heat and humidity of Houston, the car has been a paragon of reliability.”

The Old, New and Loved Chevrolet Corvette
Author: Keith George
General Motors manufactures Chevrolet Corvette in their Kentucky assembly plant. This car falls in the sports car category. Corvettes are either two door coupes or two door convertibles. Chevrolet Corvette is very similar to Dodge Viper and Ford GT.
Extremely powerful engines are one of the distinguishing features of this car. But though the engine packs power it is not complex. An overhead valve together with a larger displacement, usage of leaf springs in suspension makes Chevrolet Corvette what it is.
Other cars in the similar category are made with a much more complex engine. The cars are in many colors like sunset orange, silver grey. There have been many models of Chevrolet Corvette each better than the previous one.
Corvettes are very sophisticated cars, but they have a little history behind them. Corvette is a small fighting frigate and the car has taken its name from them. The naming has been done by a gentleman called Myron Scott.
Though now General Motors manufacture them in a very big way, the first car built in Flint, Michigan was practically hand made. From that first car the latest Chevrolet Corvette model unveiled in the last quarter of 2005, as a model for 2006, has indeed come a long way. General Motors have constantly strived to make the newer models a cut above the rest, but without any mind boggling complexities. In the niche market, Corvettes stand tall.
Owning a Chevrolet Corvette is a matter of pride. They are stylish and expensive. Only a true car connoisseur can really appreciate the beauty of a Corvette. Fuel economy is another attraction of a Corvette. The cars have become very popular especially with those who are somewhat adventurous and enjoy speed.
Dealers are able to guide the customer and Corvettes come with a thirty six month warranty. There is the benefit of insurance also. Corvettes offer a comfortable ride, but compared to other sports cars, there is less agility because of a light steering and its width. The interior of the 2006 model is an improvement on the earlier models.
There is a big market for used cars and with the advent of internet
buying and selling cars have become very easy and convenient. In fact getting the product details or information about new models is easy too. There are used car dealers and the prospective seller can contact them. But getting attached to Chevrolet Corvette is so easy, few think of getting rid of it.

Good News for Gm: Cobalt Sales Up After Long Slump
Author: Iver Penn
More good news for the General Motors Corp. Lordstown Complex come as its Chevrolet Cobalt in May snapped an eight-month streak of declining year-over-year sales. GM reported last week that Cobalt sales rose in May as shoppers began paying more attention to fuel efficient vehicles. The good news comes after the plant earned its first spot among North America’s top 10 vehicle assembly plants.
The complex’s Chevrolet Cobalt finished fourth — one notch above the small-car segment’s average score — in Strategic Vision’s index released Monday measuring customers’ overall satisfaction with a vehicle.
For the first time Lordstown also achieved Phase 3, or best-in-class, status in General Motors Corp.’s Quality Network Planned Maintenance, an internal audit to make sure the plant is running at top capability. The kudos come after Lordstown for the first time made the top 10 last week in the widely followed Harbour Report for assembly plant productivity.
The Lordstown complex Friday gained a key GM internal measure known as Quality Network Planned Maintenance, which tracks how well production and maintenance employees work together to keep the factory humming at peak performance.
In reaching Phase 3 of the program, Lordstown is considered best-in-class, something United Auto Workers Local 1112 President Jim Graham called ‘‘a huge, huge thing. It’s a building block to get a new product.’’
Lordstown is trying to convince GM – maker of quality GMC bug shield, to award it a new vehicle to build when the current Cobalt ends production in the summer of 2009. Gaining Phase 3 status is considered a key step in GM’s decision-making process.
Strategic Vision’s study, called the Total Quality Index, goes beyond tracking problems with vehicles to measuring consumers’ experience at the car dealership, service, design, technology, price and other items.
Cobalt owners who bought 2007 models from September through November last year gave the car 848 points out of 1,000, one better than the segment average. The car placed one notch below average last year at fifth place with 845 points.
The Chevrolet Aveo finished third with 850 points. The Hyundai Elantra was second at 853 points, and the Honda Civic was first with 882 points.
One of the Cobalt’s toughest rivals, the Toyota Corolla, tumbled from third place in the 2006 study to eighth with 833 points.
Alexander Edwards, president of the San Diego-based automotive consultant firm, said owners gave the Cobalt’s exterior craftmanship — fit and finish, body strength — one of its highest ratings.
Exterior styling also did well, as did the sound system and the car’s power and acceleration, he noted.
Interior craftsmanship came out about segment average, suggesting something could be done on the inside in order to move ahead of the competition, Edwards said.
The results findings meshed with customer responses received by about 10 Lordstown Complex workers who this year started calling new Cobalt buyers around the country to find out what they think of the car, Graham said. Some 98.5 percent of comments they get are favorable, he said.
Lordstown began building the Cobalt in October 2004. It’s consistently been one of GM’s best selling cars since, even with a weak spell stretching from September 2006 through April. The car was GM’s second-best seller for the month behind the Chevrolet Impala’s 35,665.

Consumer Reports Gives the Chevrolet Cobalt Below-average Ranking
Author: Noah Scott
General Motors—world’s largest automaker and maker of the popular GM cold air intakes --- has recently issued a statement against the Consumer Reports’ below-average ranking of the Chevrolet Cobalt saying that the magazine has based its findings on old tests results and does not in any way reflect the current models.
It should be noted that the magazine has ranked the Chevrolet Cobalt 11th out of 16 small cars with automatic transmissions. Consumer Reports’ Winter/Spring 2007 Superchart has not included the Lordstown-built car among the eight cars listed on the magazine’s “recommended buys”. The information was released ahead of its annual issue which will come out on March 6.
The Cobalt ranking that was released by Consumer Reports was based on the performance test done by the magazine in 2005, in short it doesn’t reflect the improvements done to the car since then, said Janine Froehan, spokeswoman for General Motors on quality issues. The Chevrolet Cobalt was released in fall of 2004.
Starting from the time the magazine tested the Cobalt, Lordstown plant has already added a new paint shop which has greatly improved the finish quality and reduced the noise by enhancing the sealing of the car’s body, explained Froehan. There are also added features included in the 2007 models such as a remote start and upgraded radio. Froehan has expressed her observation regarding the magazine’s quality rankings saying that it’s not accurate and are based on a three year average test plus it does not include updates on innovation or developments that the vehicles included in the ranking tests have undergone.
Froehan further stated that GM’s internal monitoring reveals that the car improved significantly in terms of reliability and performance. “Is the car where it needs to be? No. But we are making improvements, and they are significant.”
Jim Graham, President of United Auto Workers Local 1112 commented that the magazine’s ranking doesn’t match any of the research being conducted at the Lordstown plant. He also said that Lordstown workers for the past couple of months have been calling Cobalt buyers and personally asking them for any problems that they are encountering with the brand. The workers are also asking these same buyers what they like and do not about their cars. “The percentage of positive calls is much, much more than the percentage of negative calls.” Graham did not divulge the specific numbers.
Consumer Reports’ Magazine has given the Cobalt with a below-average score in terms of reliability and overall satisfaction. The magazine has also given the Cobalt with an average rating in the area of accident avoidance. But in fairness to the Cobalt it has scored above average in crash protection with its side airbags and received an average score without the airbags.
The magazine also highlighted the good points of the Cobalt like for its acceleration and ride. But unfortunately scored low for steering, engine noise, fuel economy, seat comfort and side crash protection without the curtain airbags.
All the other top-rated cars included in the Consumer Reports’ Winter/Spring 2007 Superchart were by far more expensive than the Cobalt. The Cobalt tested by the magazine only cost $16,350 while the prices of the top six cars ranged from $18,190 to $23,780. General Motors has scheduled the production of Cobalt in Lordstown through summer of 2009. Union officials are also hopeful that the plant will receive another model to build.

Chevrolet Cobalt is 4th Most American Car
Author: Iver Penn
Is the Chevrolet Cobalt American-made or not?
Now the internet world will be finding out what the folks in the Mahoning Valley have known for a long time, that the answer to the question is yes, the vast bulk of the Chevrolet Cobalt is American-made.
The General Motors Corp. Lordstown-built small car ranked fourth on the list released Friday by Cars.com among vehicles with the highest American content at 82 percent.
The study helps consumers identify the top ten vehicles which are truly the most American in terms of their parts (like GMC exhaust tip for instance), where they are produced, and their popularity with U.S. buyers. The study is the third done by the Web site since June 2006.
Cars.com's American-Made Index highlights the cars that are built in the United States, have the highest amount of domestic parts, and are bought in the largest numbers by Americans. In order to make it to the list, cars must have a domestic-parts-content rating of 75 percent or more. Cars.com also used the figure alongside the window sticker of new cars to determine a car's domestic parts content. If a car is going to be discontinued in the near future, it was also disqualified.
GM grabbed four of the top five spots, with Ford and Toyota both taking three spots, the study showed.
Ford’s F-150 pickup truck had the most American content at 90 percent. Japan’s Toyota Camry (75 percent) and Camry Solara (80 percent) were No. 2.
The Camry had less U.S. content than the Cobalt but outranked the Cobalt in sales, 144,362 to 79,257, for the year through May. Camry sales don’t include hybrid models.
Chevrolet’s Silverado 1500 pickup truck, built at Fort Wayne, Ind., and Pontiac, Mich., ranked third with 90 percent U.S. content.
The F-150 and Silverado rankings are based on estimated sales and/or production data,Cars.com said. The top four placers all held the same positions in the December study.
The Ford Focus, which wasn’t ranked in December, took fifth at 75 percent.
The next five were the Toyota Sienna, sixth; Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, seventh; Pontiac G6, eighth; Ford Escape, ninth, and Toyota Tundra, 10th.
The ranking wasn’t a surprise to Lordstown spokesman Tom Mock, as according to him, it just highlights the importance of the complex and the entire U.S. auto industry.
‘‘We think it’s important not just for manufacturers of vehicles but for manufacturers of parts, too,’’ he said. ‘‘For every job at Lordstown, 7.1 jobs are created in other industries, most of those in parts-related industries.’’
The Lordstown complex employs 5,000 hourly and salaried workers at the assembly and metal stamping plants, as well as nearby suppliers such as Intier and Lear.

2007 Aveo Sedan's ‘virtual Launch' to Behold

Author: Terry Brown
In the afternoon of the 17th day of this month at Seldom Blues restaurant, Renaissance Center, Detroit, a leaping change was initiated to the manner of launching cars. This change was introduced by Chevrolet, a prominent name in the automotive industry.
Instead of the traditional launch of cars, Chevrolet opted to launch its newest car 2007 Aveo Sedan to media via live webcast. In full amazing features, the all-new Aveo Sedan which is value-driven and fuel-efficient was introduced to the viewing public.
Chevrolet's out of the ordinary webcast launch featured a speech from its general manager Ed Pepper and its car marketing director Cheryl Catton. In an interview, Pepper said, "Just as we no longer operate in a one-size-fits-all vehicle market, we are adapting our marketing strategies to reach our customers in the most effective way. The target audience for the Aveo sedan has grown up with the Internet, and 75 percent of this audience spends at least two or more hours each day online. To reach this digital generation, we need to go where they are."
2007 Aveo Sedan is a redesigned version of sedan to cater to the needs of safe and smooth driving experience at the same time enjoying its grand design. Said car offers a 42 cubic feet cargo room to maximize loading capacity. It also comes with a 2 flipped and folded rear seats. Basically, it is based on the 2006 GM Economy 5-Door segment.
This year's Aveo Sedan has a fresh interior and exterior design. It comfortably seats five. Not only that, it also has features and amenities such as standard side-impact air bags, tilting headrests, first-rate power-sliding sunroof, CD/MP3 player, steering wheel audio controls, woodgrain appearance trim, and other trusted Chevrolet auto parts.
2007 Aveo Sedan same as its counterparts is affordable. Pepper added, "With the current Aveo lineup starting at $9,995, Aveo represents a smart buy that delivers on Chevy's Total Value Promise."
Online launch like this one, is said to boom in the coming years. This is because of the fact that online generation is the most viable market to introduce amazing cars in today's time.

Aveo Hasn't Made Gm Proud

Author: Deepesh
In the middle of the steel issue, I really missed this one. Think of it no one in India picked this up either? The Chevrolet Aveo - yes the one recently launched in India and peddled by Saif and Rani for its superlative, mindblowing, etc performance - has received a two star rating in the Euro NCAP vehicle occupant safety tests. That's two-out-of-five, not exactly superlative or mindblowing. Euro NCAP was especially severe on the steering wheel design and placement. I wonder how this will affect GM India's prospects with the car. I also wonder how they will do the damage control. Following is a news story that I picked up from just-auto which explains the rest.
BELGIUM: Chevrolet Aveo singled out in poor Euro NCAP tests6 April 2006 Source: just-auto.com editorial team In recent years, the increasing number of cars obtaining top marks for adult occupant protection in Euro NCAP's tests has led some to demand the introduction of a new benchmark and a sixth star.
However, results announced at the end of February by Euro NCAP prove that whilst some manufacturers are forging ahead in their safety development, others still have a long way to go.
Of the six cars tested by Euro NCAP in this recent phase, only two achieved the top five star accolade for occupant protection in Europe's leading independent crash tests.
The Chevrolet Aveo was singled out by Euro NCAP for the unacceptably high risk of life-threatening injury to the driver's chest, which was highlighted by the frontal test.
As a result, the car's final star was struck through. Although the Aveo scored enough points overall to qualify for three stars, Euro NCAP insists on a minimum level of performance in each of the frontal and side impacts. While the Aveo's performance in side impact was good, it did not score enough points in the frontal test to be given a three-star rating.
Yet, the Chevrolet was not the only car to come under Euro NCAP's scrutiny. The Kia Cerato had poor results in the side impact tests with a high risk of injury to the driver's chest.
In contrast, the Peugeot 207 joins the growing list of superminis to be awarded the five-star Euro NCAP rating in adult occupant protection, proving that even the smallest of cars can be safe on European roads.
The Alfa Romeo 159 also received impressive results for its adult occupant protection with a five-star Euro NCAP rating. This is the first Alfa Romeo to have received five stars in Euro NCAP's adult occupant protection test. More worrying were the Alfa Romeo's pedestrian protection results: only a one-star rating.

Aveo – the Next Best Selling Chevrolet

Author: Jason Moore
The 2007 Aveo sedan is much-enhanced and coming to Chevy dealers across the country as a four and five-seater. It has the presence, emotions and looks of a car in the compact class. Pricing of the Aveo LS starts at $12,950 while the LT is at $15,450.
The power for the Aveo comes from a 1.6-litre, 16-valve four-cylinder producing 103 hp and 107 ft/lb of torque with what Chevrolet calls its Variable Geometry Induction System. There is a standard five-speed manual transmission with an optional four-speed automatic for this front driver.
The automatic features what Chevy calls Hold Control Mode. It lets the driver select and hold the transmission in a higher gear that yields torque to the front wheels to reduce wheel spin and traction loss on clever road surfaces.
Though fuel economy figures have not been released, the 2007 Aveo sedan assures a quality Chevy catalytic converter for cleaner emissions.
The Chevy Aveo is equipped to meet Canadian safety standards with standard duel rate front airbags and optional side-impact airbags for more torso and head protection. Standard safety features include four channel ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, front-seat belts with front-load limiters, lower anchors for children’s’ seats and height-adjustable shoulder belt anchors.
Its trunk behind the 60/40 split rear seats offers 350 litres (12.4 cu ft) of luggage capacity. And it is quite easy to stow ski bags with all the boots and poles with the back seats folded flat.
Aside from the standard front headrests that tilt, the doors and seatbacks have pockets and hooks on the headrest posts to hold grocery bags or even backpacks. The Aveo also has a tilt steering wheel, remote keyless entry and cruise control is an option.
The LT has fog lamps, power heated side-mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, power door locks, remote keyless entry, power windows and a “no charge” sunroof.
A special edition RS is also available. For $1,095 more, it your Aveo will get an iPod, premium six-speaker sound system, steering wheel audio controls, 15-inch aluminum wheels and spoiler.
The interior has a two-tone color scheme, stain chrome plus carbon-fiber look accents and very realistic looking “simul-wood” trim pieces. The LT also offers a power sunroof and heated body-color outside mirrors that are seldom optional extras in this segment.
Another standard is the AM/FM stereo with four speakers plus an optional system that supports MP3/CDs. An auxiliary jack for MP3 players is standard. A six-speaker sound system that supports MP3/CDs and an optional six-disc CD changer are still included in the list of options.
Chevrolet has the steering box fixed to the cross member of the front suspension for stability. The speed-sensitive power steering allows quick turns at slow speeds. Shorter wheelbases always mean quick reaction in cornering and this is enhanced by a front stabilizer bar.
So, are you looking for a stylish, but stout subcompact? The Chevrolet Aveo is a perfect choice.

The New Avalanche With New Unique Features

Author: Anthony Fontanelle
The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door sport utility truck unleashed in 2002 by Chevrolet. It was launched to give the public an advance look at the next generation of front fascia designs for the entire GM line. The name Avalanche is derived from the dangerous and sudden collapse of mountain snowpacks known as the avalanche.
The Chevy Avalanche has been redesigned and re-engineered for 2007 and had become far more superior to its predecessor. While a carryover from 2007 comes the 2008 Avalanche.
The 2008 Avalanche is a 4-door, up to 6-passenger full size pickup, available in 10 trims, ranging from the LS 2WD to the LTZ 4WD. The LS 2WD is equipped with a standard 5.3-liter, V8, 320-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 21-mpg on the highway. The LTZ 4WD is equipped with a standard 5.3-liter, V8, 310-horsepower, flexible fuel engine that achieves 11-mpg in the city and 15-mpg on the highway. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.” Despite its improved performance, reviewers find a few complain about its fuel-thirsty engine.
The Avalanche had always been one of a kind. Most find its exterior quite good but not especially a head-turner for its class. It features a removable rear window and exclusive "midgate" that can be lowered into the cabin to provide additional cargo-carrying capabilities. This power-dome hood and redesigned lighting elements also tells us that this is an Avalanche and not a regular pickup.
Car parts like oversized wheel flares, and satin chrome door handles, grille insert, mirror camps and tubular assist steps are special features that add up to the appeal of the Avalanche.
Though it is luxurious and comfortable but it cabin isn’t good enough to be a part of the top-three in terms of SUV interior quality. It can seat up to six passengers. It is constructed from high-quality materials, with much more comfortable seats, and an instrument panel that is positioned perfectly for easy visibility. It is well-equipped with many standard features such as power windows, power door locks, keyless entry, a single CD/MP3 player, a power driver's seat and cruise control.
Standard Avalanche safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability control, GM's OnStar emergency communications system and a full-length side-curtain airbag system with a rollover sensor. According to usnews.rankingsandreviews.com, “the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche does very well in federal government crash tests. It earned five stars for driver and front passenger protection in frontal impacts, and five stars for the front and rears seat in side impacts.”

Avalanche Retains Its Magic Rush

Author: Tracy Dawson
The magic rush is settled on Avalanche. In its redesigned version, Avalanche offers an overhauled version of its predecessor. Said overhauling is part and parcel of General Motors' full size truck platform revamp. Further, Chevrolet Suburban SUV up to GMC Sierra pickup were redesigned and upgraded to make the 2007 Chevrolet lineup more appealing and remarkable.
A number of vehicle experts are saying that the all-new Avalanche is weighed down by several low technology components. Nonetheless, there is a greater number of experts who concur to its refined ride, improved design and striking luxury features.
It can be remembered that Avalanche started off as General Motors' solution to the forced swapping between pickup truck bed space and cab space. Crew cab pickups became mainstream in the year 2000. Its functionality as well as its liberating effect which is affected by roomy, four-door cabins seemed to lose its allure. This is because of the new-found need for a shorter yet significant vehicle. To attend to this need, Chevrolet introduced the trick midgate that folded down to lengthen the bed into the cab, efficiently transforming a short-bed crew cab into a long-bed regular cab.
2007 Chevrolet Avalanche comes in three trim levels – LS, LT and LTZ. Each of them can be equipped with rear- or four-wheel drive. Avalanche LT comes in LT1, LT2 and LT3 options with ascending levels of luxury.
To put emphasis on the redesigning of Avalanche, Chevrolet shunned its old body cladding. It is replaced with integrated rocker panels and bumper. Its fa?ade bears a resemblance to 2007 Tahoe because of its headlights and grille. Now, Avalanche is made more rugged yet refined.
Despite its redesign, Avalanche has retained its key elements including the triangular pillars descending from the cab's C-pillars to its bed and its length, which is almost the same as its predecessor.
Avalanche magic rush can also be triggered by its added features that include power windows, power door locks and keyless entry, power driver's seat and steering-wheel audio controls for a highly comfy ride.

The Chevrolet Avalanche

Author: Gertrude
The Chevrolet Avalanche is a version of the remarkable re-engineered full-size pickups and SUVs that General Motors has started selling late last year. It has such a charming appearance and has a lot of potentials of becoming a terrific truck. With the addition of some truck accessories here and there like for instance grille guards truck can help to further boost its looks plus safeness in which this truck lacks. grille guards truck can provide the front end with a bold, tough look while enhancing protection of the truck. A grille guard is also one of the hottest truck accessories around.
Despite the charisma that the Avalanche possesses it’s not enough to hide its flaws like for instance its lack of back seat room, its not so comfortable front seats, and disappointing fuel economy rating.
But then again in spite of the drawbacks that the Avalanche has it also has some admirable features such as:
• Its redesigned looks that share with all of GM’s full-size trucks for 2007 which helps greatly in improving the Avalanche. It is also good that Chevy has finally decided to discontinue the grotesque side cladding which really help in improving the looks of the Avalanche.• The modified cargo box of the Avalanche has deep, covered side compartments that can hold a lot of beverage containers, groceries, and truck supplies. They have drains so you fill them with ice or use them as coolers. The three-piece hard tonneau cover seals the cargo box, making it as a useful enormous trunk. The signature feature of the Avalanche which pertains to its movable passenger-compartment rear bulkhead enables it to be used for five or six passengers with short box (5 feet, 4 inches) or two or three passengers with long box (or 8 feet, 2 inches).• And since it's a new GM truck it was given a premium interior; smooth ride; agile handling, especially for its size. Its additional option and standard features are desirable enough that they can tempt you to overlook drawbacks. For instance: GM's 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, OnStar emergency calling system, remote-control engine start, and Easy-to-program driver information center. Its smooth, powerful V-8 engine and Easy-to-use four-wheel drive are remarkable as well. That smooth ride is largely because of the Avalanche new design which is based on the new GM SUVs that features the use of comfort-oriented coil springs on the rear suspension, rather than the pickups' leaf springs.
As mentioned the Avalanche has some flaws and these are as follows:
• Cadillac and some GMC trucks have six-speed boxes, which typically boost fuel economy 5 percent or more vs. four-speeds. On the other hand the Avalanche was given a four-speed automatic transmission which is not as efficient as those of the Cadillac and some other GMC trucks. "Over the next couple of years, you'll see us switch all our four-speeds to six-speeds as we get more availability," says Carl Hillenbrand, product manager for the Chevy Silverado pickup, formerly of Avalanche.• The Avalanche lack rear visibility since its tailgate and cargo box block vision which makes it mandatory for would-be Avalanche owners to purchase the $250 rearview camera. • Front seats have too much lumbar bump. It can't be retracted fully unlike in some rival trucks.• Fuel economy it’s disappointing. No better than any other big truck, 12 or 13 mpg around town, despite of GM's "active fuel-management" feature. The cylinder cutoff shuts off half the cylinders when they're not needed for smoothness or power.• Head restraints are not provided for the middle rear rider making it a potential safety hazard. On the other hand, the safety belt for that slot is mounted to the back of the seat, positioning it low for a youngster in a booster seat.• The back-seat room is too little, despite the generous 39 inches of legroom GM publishes.
